Privacy Policy

1. What data we collect

When you create an account, we collect your username, email address, and a hashed password (we never store your password in plain text). As you use the platform, we store your learning progress — which exercises you've completed, your scores, and your activity dates (streak). We do not collect payment information, phone numbers, or any government-issued identifiers.

2. Why we collect it

We use your data solely to provide the Lingo-Bridge service: to authenticate your account, save your progress across devices, and display your learning statistics. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the platform.

3. Third-party services

We use Gravatar (Automattic Inc.) to display profile avatars. If you have a Gravatar account linked to your email, your avatar will appear. We send only a one-way MD5 hash of your email to Gravatar — we never send your actual email address. No other third-party services receive your personal data.

4. Data retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page. Account deletion permanently removes all your personal data and learning progress from our systems within 24 hours.

5. Your rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You also have the right to data portability and to object to processing. To exercise these rights, please use the account settings or contact us.

6. Cookies

We use three functional cookies — no tracking, analytics, or advertising cookies of any kind:

• session — keeps you logged in during your visit (expires after 1 day of inactivity)
• remember_token — extends your login if you chose "Remember me" (7 days)
• lang — remembers your preferred interface language (1 year)

You can clear these cookies at any time through your browser settings. The lang cookie can also be reset by selecting a language from the interface.
